Muslims, Islam and Ramadan

About 30 years back, being Muslim in Melbourne implied quietly assembling in the parlors of lofts for a minute of supplication to God or needing to clarify what seemed like a remote, extraordinary religion to outsiders.

There were no masjids — love focuses — for kids to learn Arabic or shops like those found in urban focuses to purchase uniquely ready meats and sustenances. Yet today, there are no less than three love focuses over the Space Coast, from Melbourne to Merritt Island, with almost 4,100 Islamic disciples and a developing perceivability for the confidence in schools and at work.

"I revel in living in Brevard County," said Sheik Ahmad, a writer and philanthropy coordinator who moved from Pakistan to Pennsylvania in 1977. "When I first came here 13 years back, there wasn't much, there was not a ton for the Muslim group. Anyhow now you see a great deal more — we have the mosque in Melbourne and a considerable measure of scholars.

Ahmad moved to Brevard with his family in June 2001, prior months the Sept. 11 terrorist assaults.

"We are a pleasant group of adherents. You can't let one or two individuals move you to judge the whole religion," he said.

This weekend, Ahmad and the district's Muslims started praising Ramadan, a month of fasting from nourishment and water throughout the daytime hours, with requests to God for Islamic solidarity, daily meals for the group and readings of Quran as uncovered to Prophet Muhammad almost 1,400 years back. The fasting — finished daily with a conventional aiding of dates and buttermilk — is one of the five mainstays of Islam that make up a Muslim's otherworldly life, including imploring five times each day and making a journey to the city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia in any event once in an individual's

Ramadan 2015: Waiting for the Moon

Ramadan is just a few days away and like millions of people out there, me and my friends are also waiting for the full moon to appear so that Muslims can start their fasting.

I am not a Muslim by religion, but I have many Muslim friends and they all celebrate the festival and do fast. I love to join them in the occasion as I like the concept of fasting and offerings during the holy month of Ramadan. My friends tell me a lot about Quran rules and saying and I like them all.

Ramadan Kareem Wishes 2015

Recently, I came to know even more about the saying of Quran through this blog I visited recently. What I learned is

During the month of Ramadan, you are supposed

  • Do a month of fasting everyday from Sunrise to Sunset
  • Not to eat food during the daytime
  • No water during daytime
  • No swearing and sex
  • No smoking or other bad deeds
Importance of the month of Ramadan

  • It’s a time of spiritual reflection and learning
  • A time for reestablishing one’s relationship to God
  • And looking at the kind of Muslim (and human being) you have been over the past year
Why do fasting?

  • Some believe abstaining from food allows for a spiritual nurturing from God, through sacrifice and avoidance of the multiple temptations we come across throughout the day that may lead us away from the “straight path.”
  • Experiencing real hunger allows those blessed with abundance to develop empathy for those who are not, as well as gratitude for things we take for granted almost every day, like food in the cupboard.

With seven more oceans added to it, the words of Allah would not be exhausted
For Allah is infinite in power and wisdom
